Jewelry Care

Small habits that keep your pieces shining, made for life by the water.
The golden rule

Last on, first off

After lotion

Let lotion and sunscreen soak in, then put your pieces on.

After perfume

Spray first, let it dry, then add your jewelry.

Off for the beach

Salt water, chlorine and sand are hard on plating.

Off for the shower

Soap and water dull the shine over time.

Every day

Do this, skip that

A few easy habits do most of the work.

Do

  • Store each piece in its pouch when you're not wearing it
  • Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth after you wear it
  • Dry it right away if it gets wet
  • Keep pieces apart so chains don't tangle and charms don't scratch

Avoid

  • Swimming in the ocean or the pool
  • Showering or doing dishes with your jewelry on
  • Spraying perfume or hairspray right on it
  • Harsh cleaners, polishing dips or rough cloths

How to clean it

MaterialHow to clean it
Gold plated chainsWipe with a soft, dry cloth. If needed, use a little mild soap and lukewarm water, then dry it well.
Plated charmsWipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Rubbing hard can wear down the plating.
Sterling silverWipe with a soft, dry cloth and keep it in its pouch between wears.
Pearls and gemstonesWipe with a soft, damp cloth and let them dry flat.

Never use toothpaste, silver dips or ultrasonic cleaners on plated jewelry, pearls or stones.

Between wears

Store it right

Keep each piece in its own pouch, away from humidity. Chains stay untangled, charms don't scratch and pearls stay away from harder pieces.

Good to know

Questions

Will my jewelry tarnish?

Our chains are 14k gold plated stainless steel, which resists tarnish. Any plating can wear over time with water, sweat and friction, so the habits on this page help it last.

Can I wear my jewelry in the ocean or the pool?

We'd rather you didn't. Salt water and chlorine are hard on plating, pearls and stones. Take your pieces off before you swim and they'll stay shiny longer.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?

Yes. Everything we make is nickel-free and hypoallergenic.

How should I store my pieces?

In their pouch, away from humidity. Keep chains apart so they don't tangle, and keep pearls away from harder pieces that could scratch them.
